Did God intend to have borders between countries? Is there a lesson in the Bible that can help me understand or is all just government? I have serious issues against illegal aliens and I want to know if they are just criminals for passing the border without permission of if they are also criminals by God's respect. I know it's an odd question but I would love to deal with illegal’s better because I'm not doing that so well these days.

Question:
Did God intend to have borders between countries?

Answer:
No; it was not God’s intention that there be borders between countries.
It was not even God’s intention that there be different countries.
Borders indicate division. Division came about because of sin.
Initially, everyone spoke the same language. It was man’s pride and arrogance that created the language barrier. (Tower of Babel)

Genesis 11:1-9 (KJV)…
1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

God intended for man to live in harmony and in peace with one another.
God created man in His own image and likeness and gave man dominion (authority and power) over the earth and over all the fish, birds, animals, and critters that live on the earth.

Genesis 1:26-28 (KJV)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

In order for us to grasp the concept of man being made in the image of God, we have to form a picture of God in our mind and in our heart. At least in as much as our human minds will allow.

We need to understand that:

- God was present in the very beginning…

Genesis 1:1 (KJV)…
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

John 1:1-3 (KJV)…
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

- God intended good for mankind…

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)…
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

(same verse from NIV Bible)
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)…
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV)…
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

- God loves all of mankind…

John 3:16 (KJV)…
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 8:38-39 (KJV)…
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 4:10 (KJV)…
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

- It is not God’s desire that any should perish…

2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)…
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Corinthians 6:16-18 (KJV)…
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Revelation 22:12-13 (KJV)…
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Revelation 22:17 (KJV)…
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Romans 10:12-13 (KJV)…
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

- God is a God of peace and order…

1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV)…
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

John 14:27 (KJV)…
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)…
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

- God hates division…

1 Corinthians 1:10 (KJV)…
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

- God guides us, makes the truth, known to us, and sets us free…

John 14:6 (KJV)…
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 8:31-32 (KJV)…
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

- God commands us to obey the laws of those in authority over us…

Romans 13:1-2 (KJV)…
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

(same verse from NIV)
Romans 13:1-2 (NIV)…
1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

So…

Now we know that God created man in His own likeness.
What is God like?

He is Peaceful
He is Kind
He is Loving
He is full of Mercy
He is Forgiving
He is Truthful
He is Just
He sets captives Free
He feeds the Hungry
He clothes the Poor
He comforts the Broken Hearted
He is Holy

What does God require of us?

Micah 6:8 (KJV)…
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

God requires all men (and women) to be fair and just, to be merciful, and walk in the humility that comes from the realization that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

Those who break the just laws of man are guilty of breaking the laws of God.

But, before make the mistake of pointing the finger at someone else’s sin, let us look closely at our own lives.

Jesus said:
…He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone…
(John 8:7 KJV)

Romans 5:8 (NIV)
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

All of us!
